Hemby Road Project – SPLOST While driving the roads in Cobb you’ve probably noticed the SPLOST signs posted throughout the county signifying SPLOST’s projects. East Cobb Park East Cobb Park board members, elected officials and guests recently attended a ground breaking for a “All-abilities Playground” to be built at the park. The playground, designed to benefit area children with disabilities, is being donated by the Resurgens Charitable Foundation and is expected to be fully operational in August of this year. The Foundation, formed in 2001, raises funds to build specifically designed “all-abilities” playgrounds in Metro Atlanta. This is the second playground donated in Cobb. All funding comes through donations from Resurgens Orthopedics’ employees, physicians, patients, family, friends and business associates.   00:09:43   00:00:46
Police Graduation Twenty-Five new police recruits hit the streets of Cobb County this week after graduating from the Cobb County Police Academy. The academy spanned six-months where the newly hired officers trained in Emergency Vehicle Operations, Firearms, Defensive tactics and many other aspects of law enforcement. The new recruits received a heart-felt congratulations from several dignitaries, including Cobb’s Chairman Sam Olens. The new recruits have one more phase to complete before hitting the road solo. Sheriff Corn Boil`n Sheriff Neal Warren held the 20th annual Corn Boilin recently at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. The community-focised even aims to bring together the sheriff, politicians, and members of the law enforcement community to eat the finest country cooking round and enjoy traditional Bluegrass music. This year was no different as Cobb County commission Chairman, Sam Olens, dished out the food and politicians from all over the Metro Atlanta area pressed the flesh of the citizens of Cobb County and enjoyed the spirited evening. Sheriff Warren and former Sheriff Bill Hudson, who started the event in 1989, where on hand to welcome the attendees and continue what has become a welcomed tradition for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.   00:14:42   00:00:41
Town Center Renovation Town Center at Cobb has officially completed its extensive interior and exterior renovation. A shopping staple in the Cobb County community since it opened in 1986, Town Center at Cobb no features a new look and design with upgraded amenities to better suit shoppers needs.

Completed interior projects include a full-scale remodel of the Food Court with its warmer color scheme and new flooring; redesigned and expanded Food Court restrooms; and a new two-way escalator near the Food Court. Other interior enhancements include a new lighting package and complete repainting of the mall interior. Wood column accents, new skylights and glass handrailing were also completed during the renovation. The newly designed Guest Services booth has been relocated to a more convenient location on the upper level and the main entrance to the mall has been updated with glass windows for a more modern feel.
