Acworth Park and Ride Ribboncutting Cobb County leaders recently cut the ribbon for the newly expanded Acworth Park and Ride Lot. About 80 percent of the $2.3 million construction cost was paid for through federal grants, according to the Cobb County Department of Transportation. Another 10 percent was paid for by state grants. The project, which expanded the lot from 274 parking spaces to 499 spaces, also included additional lighting and a covered passenger waiting area.     00:01:47
Extension Lunch and Learn The Cobb County Extension Service is sponsoring a lunch and learn series at the Central Library on the second Friday of every month this year. Last week we told you in an effort to be more environmentally friendly, Cobb County Government has started a new recycling program. Keep Cobb Beautiful, in an effort to encourage employees to recycling, has created a prize patrol to visit departments that are going over and above to help our environment.     00:03:12
KSU and GA Highlands Ribboncutting Georgia Highlands College and Kennesaw State University recently celebrated the opening of the Paulding County Instructional Site in the renovated Bagby Building in downtown Dallas with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new instructional facility includes two newly renovated floors of classrooms, labs, a media library, student lounge and administrative offices. Georgia Highlands will begin offering undergraduate core classes this fall and Kennesaw State will offer upper level business classes and graduate courses in educational leadership in spring 2010.     00:00:42
Powder Spring Station Development Cobb County is trying its hand at redevelopment again. Atlanta Defenders Charity
Golf Tournament
Football season is ramping up for high schools, colleges, and professional teams around the state, including the Atlanta Defenders. The Defenders is a semi-professional full-contact football team made up of members of public safety organizations around metro Atlanta who play football for charity. The Defenders kickoff their season with a charity Golf Tournament to be held on September 28 at The Golf Club at Bradshaw Farms.
