The annual Department of Public Safety Charity Golf tournament had to be re-scheduled due to inclement weather. The new date is November 16 at Brookstone Country Club. The charity golf tournament benefits Cobb SafeKids, which is an organization that educates families on preventing accidental injuries to children. |

| Senior Services Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s |
Cobb Senior Services along with other participating partners recently held their annual Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s near the Marietta Square. Participants came out in droves, even with the potential threat of rain, but thankfully, the rain held off and those in attendance were off to walk 3 miles for a great cause. Walkers started out at Kennesaw Ave. and made their way up to the Marietta square, back down Cherokee, over to Maple St. where they ended the race. There were young and old alike doing their part to find a cure for Alzheimers. Organizers are already meeting for next years Memory Walk in Cobb. |

| Teacher of the Year |
Cobb residents, dignitaries, and students joined the Cobb Chamber of Commerce recently in a ceremony recognizing the districts Teachers of the Year. The ceremony, which took place at the Strand Theater, honored Kelly Bramblett from the Cobb County School System and Marie Sher- bon-dee from Marietta City Schools. Ms. Bramblett, a special education teacher at Allatoona High School, has been recognized for her service to individuals with special needs. She recently received the Tommy Nobis Center’s highest honor, the Governor’s Award. Ms. Sherbondy , a math teacher at Marietta High School, has been teaching since 1993. She is involved in many aspects of mathematics education and has a passion for others to embrace learning and touch someone else’s life. Both teachers were honored by having their hand prints added to the Teachers Walk of Fame on the Marietta Square. |

The Georgia Ballet is celebrating 50 years of brining fun entertainment, education and wonderful choreographed performances to the metro area. They will open this season with a special performance – we stopped by their office to learn more about this exciting 50th season. |
